Look What Happened At The Home Depot!
After I had taken my morning break, I was on my way back to the section of the store that had hot water heaters. I looked up to see Kenneth Copeland standing in the main aisle. My feet froze!! I said, “You’re Kenneth Copeland,” He said, “Yes, and what’s your name?” I told him that my name wasn’t important, and I went onto tell him my story. I said, “I’ve been in full- time ministry for 23 years, and 3 months ago I found myself working here and I don’t understand why. I went onto tell him that I didn’t particularly like him, but I’d seen him on television a couple of times. Next, I found myself saying, “I’ve never sent you any money, but I need you to pray for me.” I thought that maybe he might think of me later and say a short prayer for me.
Brother Copeland stood there and looked straight at me with those piercing eyes of his and said, “Why, that’s okay.” His wife Gloria walked over to him, and they began to pray…right in the center aisle on one of the busiest days of the year. I wasn’t sure I wanted him to pray right there and then! And when I say they prayed, I mean they PRAYED!
When they finished praying, Gloria invited me to attend a meeting they were having in a few weeks at Eagle Mountain International Church. They left and I went back to my aisle and began to work. I looked up from what I was doing and here came Brother Copeland again, this time grinning from ear to ear. He caught hold of my hand and said, “Boy, I forgot to shake your hand goodbye.” Glory to God, he left a $100 bill in that hand!
Linda and I attended that meeting at the church with only $5.00 to our name. As the meeting began, Brother Copeland called me to the front and began to speak words of life into me. He then called Linda to come down, and when she did, he gave us a prophecy that changed our lives and ministry forever. We went back to our seats as happy as we could be.
As Brother Copeland began to receive the evening offering, we placed our last $5.00 in the basket, believing that God would take care of us. When the offering was received, Brother Copeland called us back down to pray over it. We did, and as I was finishing, Brother Copeland began praying. When he finished, he turned and said, “This offering is for you to get re-established in the ministry and pay some bills.” Praise God!
After that night, I continued to work at The Home Depot until September of that year. This memory will always be fresh and alive in me. Linda and I went back into full-time ministry in September of 1993 and haven’t looked back since! God’s grace and mercies go on and on for those He loves…and we never cease to thank Him for it.
